Over the past six months, music venues and live gigs have begun to open up a little more. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the venues and events were shut down and cancelled for public health safety. With the vaccine now rolling out, locations around the world are once again opening their doors to live music, and former One Direction star Harry Styles has taken full advantage of this.

However, disaster has already struck Harry as one of his gigs in Houston, Texas, has been cancelled due to a tropical storm.

The gig, which was due to take place earlier this week at the Houston Toyota Center, was cancelled on Twitter.

Harry himself tweeted out the news, writing to his 37 million followers.

He wrote: “Unfortunately, due to the approaching storm in Houston, I’ve been advised that tonight’s show at the Toyota Center can’t happen.”

Harry continued: “Safety must take priority, so please go home and be safe. I’m so sorry, thank you for understanding.”

The 27-year-old star signed off: “I love you all. H.”

The announcement hit the social media site around 3pm local time – just five hours before Harry was due to hit the stage.

Fans were understandably devastated by the news, with one writing: “Are you rescheduling??? Cause I waited two years to see you and I’m supposed to be getting ready to see you and now I’m balling my eyes out not knowing what to do with myself anymore so please give us an update if your still going to perform if not today when?” (sic)

Another said: “Hope people understand the issue and don’t blame Harry, he’s right and I feel sorry for the fans in Houston.” (sic)

The now-cancelled gig was a part of his 2021 Harry Styles Presents Love On Tour, which kicked off earlier this month.

The continuing US tour goes into October and November 2021, spanning from New York to California.

Over the past year, each of the former 1D boys have been confined to staying at home due to the pandemic.

Niall Horan took matters into his own hands, however, by putting on a one-time virtual gig at the Royal Albert Hall.

The star sold tickets online and allowed his fans to watch from the safety and comfort of their own homes.

He commented at the time: “The Royal Albert Hall is an epic venue – it doesn’t really get much better than that in London.”

He added: “It is the talking in between songs I am nervous about. You have to be a singer, songwriter, performer… slash presenter.”

Niall and Harry could be getting back together sooner than fans realise, however.

The latest odds from Ladbrokes suggest One Direction will be reuniting before the end of the year.

Currently, the bookies have given the band 1/2 odds on getting back together in 2021.
