Paul McCartney fans fume as Glastonbury reunion with John Lennon stream delayed

Sir Paul McCartney fans have been left complaining after trying to watch his headline set at Glastonbury to discover the BBC were broadcasting it an hour later.

The Beatles legend who made history by becoming the oldest solo act to headline the global festival was scheduled to open his performance at 9.30pm on the Pyramid Stage.

Fans however were left bewildered after the slot didn't appear on the BBC or on iPlayer at the right time.

Instead, the broadcaster's schedule read: "Watch Paul McCartney's headline performance on the Glastonbury Channel on iPlayer and BBC One from 10.30pm."

This didn't go down well with fans who flocked to social media to share their frustration after waiting all day.

"Umm, please @BBC can you tell us why Paul McCartney, one of the all-time greats, doesn't get live @glastonbury coverage from the start of his set?" fumed one fan.

A second disgruntled music lover continued: "Disgraceful @glastonbury and @BBC, for whatever reason, can't deliver Paul McCartney live to millions of people."

"So, Paul McCartney is live at #Glastonbury at half 9 but not on the BBC until half 10. That is some satellite delay. #PaulMcCartney," tweeted a third.

Before another commented: "#bbcglastonbury what are the BBC playing at? Where is Paul McCartney? This is an absolute shambles."

However, the BBC has since commented on the issue, saying: "Paul McCartney's much anticipated set was broadcast on BBC One at 10.30pm as well as on Radio 2 and will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds.

"Due to the complexity of broadcasting an event of this scale and the volume of performances we cover, there is sometimes variation between performances taking place and their transmission."

During Paul's performance of I've Got A Feeling, he reunited for a virtual performance with John Lennon, 42 years after he was brutally murdered in New York.

The Liverpudlian told the crowd: "I've got a special little thing here, one day, Peter Jackson rings me up and says he can take John's vocals and isolate them so that you can play live with John on tour, he said do you fancy that?"

Following the emotional performance, he added: "That's so special for me man, I know it's virtual but come on – it's John, we're back together."

Elsewhere, Paul treated fans to surprise performances with Foo Fighters icon Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen as he topped the festival's bill.
