Nicole Scherzinger rose to fame as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls in the 2000s. She has since released solo music and enjoyed a very successful career on television.
The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide fame and still are known to this day for their sassy hits. It’s safe to say that the release of the Pussycat Dolls’ breakthrough single, “Don’t Cha,” had everyone wanting to grow up to be just as hot as them. According to Billboard, they released two studio albums before calling it a day. It was well-documented at the time that some of the members of the group were unhappy about not getting the same attention as Scherzinger.
In an interview with ABC News, Jessica Sutta admitted she left the group because she “didn’t want to be in the shadow of Nicole anymore,” while a VH1 documentary that discussed the release of their song “Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)” had Scherzinger explaining that her band members weren’t too pleased about her being credited a solo artist on the track. “S**t kinda hit the fan within the group when my name came out,” she recalled.
Ten years after disbanding and the Pussycat Dolls finally gave fans what they wanted: a reunion! With so much drama behind the scenes, many have wondered what Scherzinger’s relationship with her band members is like today.
The Pussycat Dolls reunited with an epic performance on 'The X Factor'
In 2019, The Pussycat Dolls reunited for the first time in a decade and made an appearance on The X Factor in the U.K. In true Pussycat Dolls style, they put on a show-stopping performance while singing a medley of their hits, and even treated viewers to a snippet of a new single, “React.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February 2020, Scherzinger explained that the Pussycat Dolls’ manager, Robin Antin, had been wanting a reunion for some time. She admitted that when rehearsing for The X Factor, she and her band members hadn’t all been in a room together for 10 whole years. However, it immediately felt like old times and like no time had passed. “As soon as somebody started playing ‘Buttons’ wherever we were standing, right then, we immediately all broke out into the dance-break choreography in unison — it was kind of freakish. That’s when we realized, this is why we’re the Pussycat Dolls and there’ll never be any other group like us. We all work so well together,” she said.
It seems the Pussycat Dolls have put all their drama in the past behind them and are ready to continue as a group. Along with a reunion tour, Jessica Sutta and Anton have teased that more new music is on its way during a 2021 interview with ET.
