If the world’s most famous film directors designed a car, what would it look like? Thanks to artificial intelligence, we now have the answer. 

A car scrap collection firm based in the UK used DALL-E-2 – an AI platform that creates images based on text inputs – to imagine what cars designed by Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Alfred Hitchcock and James Cameron, among others, would look like. 

The results show how powerful this particular artificial intelligence system, which was built by OpenAI, can be when given this type of assignment. 

British-born director Christopher Nolan is recognized for his work on the Batman trilogy as well as films like Interstellar, which explored many quantum physics themes, and the World War II film Dunkirk.

His car looks like something Batman would ride in to cruise around town on the hunt for criminals. 

Although Stanley Kubrick’s known for classics such as The Shining and Full Metal Jacket, NationalScrapCar.co.uk notes that the colorful and quirky looking car the AI produced seems like it would be at home in 2001: A Space Odyssey

The AI’s dark and foreboding car would be perfectly at home in the worlds created by Martin Scorsese for his mafia films

James Cameron has directed many films but he’s perhaps best known for Titanic, Aliens, Terminator and Avatar. 

Most of Cameron’s work has a sci-fi element to it and the sleek and futuristic looking bright-blue car that DALL-E-2 created seems fitting. 

Most moviegoers would describe Tim Burton’s films, like Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as whimsical with some gothic-fairytale vibes. 

The AI created a car that’s befitting of Burton’s aesthetic.
