A dead Bigfoot has never been found as the species eats its own dead, so says a community of Bigfoot enthusiasts debating why the elusive beasts have never been discovered.

The debate started on Reddit's dedicated Bigfoot page and offered up a variety of reasons why a sasquatch corpse has never been found if it does indeed exist.

One user wrote: "They are super rare so the odds are hella low of stumbling across one before it decomposes and the bones get gnawed up, eaten by various critters and and eventually dissolve.

"The other theory is that they bury, or otherwise dispose of their dead in someway.

"Then of course there's idea of them being interdimensional beings so no body… which is the theory I am less inclined towards.

The mythical creature is legendary within the cryptozoology scene, a community interested in legendary creatures like the Lochness monster, whose existence has never been proven.

Another user who claims to "hunt" for Bigfoot, said: "Been hunting for 15 years. Have yet to see a dead deer in the woods that someone in my party, or I, didn't shoot. Never once found a skull, ribs etc. That's several hundred hours of hunting in a place where deer dead on the side of the road is as common as days you see pigeons in the sky.

"But in the woods? Never. That isn't to say no one ever sees deer dead in the woods, just not me. So to say no one ever sees dead Bigfoots in the woods is probably too general. Someone probably has, we just don't hear about it. So the question is, why isn't this reported, rather than why are none ever found."

The Reddit page, which boasts some 123,000 members, is home to many users with anecdotes of sighting Bigfoot.

One other user though had an even more intriguing theory, that Bigfoots dispose of their species' carcasses by eating them.

"Like all of God’s creatures, they are cannibals," they said.
