A strangely shaped object has been spotted on Google Earth by a Reddit user who believes it is a “crashed UFO”.

User dansterdj spotted the mysterious object on Starbuck Island, Kiribati.

He shared a post in which he explained his theory to the popular Reddit forum “conspiracy”, that has 1.6 million members.

Captioning the post, “Crashed UFO on Starbuck Island,” he wrote: “Visible on Google Earth showing a massive trail behind the object indicating high velocity and great amount of energy to go that far!”

His theory sparked many comments from other Reddit user and conspiracy theorists about the origins of the strange object and speculations that it could be extra-terrestrial.

One commented: "Doesn't look as much like an impact as it does like it was rolled or dragged there.”

Another chimed in to say: "Idk (I don't know) what this or if it's a UFO. But it's cool as f***.”

The original Reddit user provided the coordinates to the island which borders the Indian, South Pacific and North Pacific oceans.

Kiribati officials have labelled the island as a wildlife sanctuary, meaning it is an area largely cut off from human life and is extremely isolated.

The long sand lines next to the object has caused many to theories that it was dragged by people from a shipwreck.

The news comes just a few months after a popular Youtuber claimed to have spotted another suspicious triangle shaped-object on Google Earth.

Believed to have been submerged off the coast of an icy island in Antarctica, he estimated the size and shape fo the object and claimed it could have links to an old US Navy mission..

He said: “Maybe it's a remnant from the fabled UFO battle which took place during the infamous Operation Highjump."

Operation Highjump was a mission led by The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program in 1946 to set up a research base.

A conspiracy theory suggests that the mission resulted in several deaths after a battle with UFOs, a suggestion the US Navy has never claimed to be true.
