SIX sneaky WhatsApp hacks that let you secretly read texts without your boss finding out

  • MailOnline details six clever tricks to improve your privacy on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is known for its end-to-end encryption and the value it places on user privacy.

But that doesn’t stop other users from snatching a glimpse of your online activity – especially when they see those two little blue ticks appear at the bottom of their message.

Whether it’s an overly-officious boss or perhaps a prying ex-partner, there are plenty of occasions when you may wish to remain under-the-radar.

Here, MailOnline details six clever tricks to improve your privacy on WhatsApp.

1. Hold down the message when it pops up on your phone

This feature, known as ‘super stealth mode, lets you open a ‘preview box’ of the message text while holding down the notification.

It allows you to read the full WhatsApp message but bypasses the app completely, meaning no blue tick will be left for the sender to see.

2. Turn of read receipts

‘Read receipts’ are automatically turned on for WhatsApp’s 2.2billion users – meaning a blue tick will appear when a sender’s message has been read.

But savvy users can disable this feature by going into settings in the WhatsApp app.

To do this, go to Settings, Account, Privacy, Reading Receipts and then turn the toggle off.

3. Use Airplane Mode

Toggling Airplane Mode on your device cuts off the smartphone’s access to data and WiFi, meaning WhatsApp won’t register that the message has been read if opened.

4. Read from the Android WhatsApp widget

Android users can install a WhatsApp widget which allows you to see and read messages without triggering the blue tick.

However, it doesn’t allow you to view photos, videos or documents and you cannot view all chats through the widget. It only allows you to select individual conversations.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Press and hold anywhere on the home screen of Android mobile.

2. Find the widget option and tap on it.

3. Search for the WhatsApp chat widget. Press and long-hold it to bring it to the home screen.

5. Read through the iPhone 3D Touch

iPhone 6s or later users can secretly read WhatsApp messages with the 3D Touch feature.

This feature allows users to preview shorter chats. Here’s how to do it:

1: Launch WhatsApp but do not enter any chat.

2: Click and long-press the chat you want to read.

3: A window will open to peek within the conversation without opening the message.

4: Just remember to click outside of the small window. Otherwise, you will enter the chat inbox and trigger the read receipt.

6. Track someone else’s chats secretly

Smartphone users can install and app called KidsGuard which can track someone else’s WhatsApp chat without letting them know about it – such as a child.

Besides tracking received, sent, or deleted messages, it also offers the facility to have live screenshots of the chat going on.

It also allows you to track videos, images and documents from someone’s live chat.
