Spooked urban explorer captures spirit on camera at ‘dangerous’ derelict castle

An urban explorer has captured the attention of paranormal lovers after a 'spirit' allegedly manifested in one of her snaps.

Kirsty Rose Orr shared a whole album of photos she took when exploring Buchanan Castle in Stirlingshire, Scotland to the Abandoned and Haunted World Facebook page showing the magnificent, derelict structure of the castle.

Buchanan Castle was commissioned by The 4th Duke of Montrose and built in 1852-1858 and served the family until 1925.

The roof of the building was removed in 1954 and the condition of the house has since fell into disrepair.

The pictures were dark and eerie, and one of the shots shows an ominous sign which reads "DANGER Keep clear of building" giving a sense of the risks explorers take when visiting unkempt structures.

However, the dangerous nature of the exploration wasn't enough to scare people away – the ghosts just might as one of Kirsty's pictures shows a white figure that has been branded a spirit by paranormal fans.

The white figure sparked speculation that it could be multiple ghosts talking to each other – but viewers insist they can see its head.

Another added: "It actually looks like two spirits standing next to each other."

A third wrote: "That's a ghost you can even see the head."

A fourth commented: "It's only in this area, potentially spirits. The shape and spacing is to distinct to be a glare or smudge."

Ghost stories have long been told about Scotland's most 'glorious abandoned castle', even as recently as 2015.

According to another explorer of Derelict Places, they said: "A ghost has been reported as haunting Buchanan Castle, manifesting itself as "Strange whisperings and sounds" during the "summer months between 23:00h and dawn"."

However, they added that paranormal investigators looked into the reports and dismissed them as "owls nesting in one of the turrets."

However, others insisted that it was simply a glare or a smudge on the lens, adding: "Definitely just looks like glare and smudge on the lens…"

The news comes after a photographer sent chills down the spines of their Facebook followers after sharing snaps of an infamous haunted prison in Illinois.

The Old Joliet prison opened in 1858 with the first 33 inmates arriving from Alton in May that year and it was in operation for over two centuries confining criminals and Civil War prisoners within its walls.

But since it opened the prison became the scene of several murders, with the first prison officer to be killed on its grounds being Joseph Clark as the correctional centre's population grew to over 1,000 inmates.

Another explorer bravely stepped into a "haunted" cottage in Hastings, East Sussex in which he heard eerie "voices".

The Youtuber behind the Urbex Rot posted a series of images to Facebook after the site was demolished with a clip where he claims to have heard ghostly voices.

From the outside, the property appeared to be completely bordered up with metal sheets covering the windows.

On the inside, the paint was peeling some of the cupboards had been pulled apart and a suspicious-looking bag was found with something rotten inside.

But the creepiest part of the whole exploration was what was experienced by the bloke when inside.
