A student has discovered that his great aunt is the spitting image of Ed Sheeran.

Eduard Hromkovi, 23, was looking at a family tree when he noticed a striking resemblance to the singer-songwriter, 30.

He said: “I was instantly like, ‘holy s*** – that is literally Ed Sheeran!’”

Eduard, from Copenhagen, is not in contact with his great aunt and doesn’t know her name, but believes she is in her 80s and lives near Prague.

Eduard went to a family reunion in Rohožník, Slovakia, where 120 of his relatives had been gathering photos for the tree, which dated back to the 15th century.

When he took a closer look at the photo of his grandma's sister, he noticed a striking resemblance to the singer-songwriter.

And he said he doesn’t believe there are any family links to British-born Sheeran, apart from his similar first name.

But he added: “I have talked to a couple of my family members, asking them to check the picture out – and everyone [has] had a very similar reaction.

“I instantly shared the picture [with my friends], and it became kind of a legend!

“I really don’t think she has any idea about Ed being her doppelganger.

“But, considering his music plays in our local radios quite a bit, I think she knows who he is.”

Eduard believes that his great aunt is between 18 and 20 years old in the photo.

He continued: “As far as I know, there is no connection to Ed whatsoever, despite the fact that she looks exactly like him.”

The photo was dug out for a family reunion in 2017, but just this week Eduard remembered he’d taken a picture of it and posted it on Reddit.

It amassed more than 50,000 ‘upvotes’ – with commenters pointing out that his great aunt also looks like actor Michael Cera, 33.
