WITH just one week to go until Dancing on Ice returns, stars are throwing everything they've got into delivering an unforgettable skating performance.
But as Capital FM presenter Sonny Jay has revealed, attempting daring stunts doesn't come without its risks.
Rehearsal footage shows Sonny bravely attempt a headbanger-style lift with his partner Angela Egan – and the moment they both came crashing down on the ice after he drops her.
Caring Sonny is heard asking professional skater Angela "are you OK? Are you sure?" after they came clattering down.
Luckily both avoided any injury and shared a laugh as resilient Angela got ready to give it another go with her celebrity partner.
Sonny told The Sun: "Practice makes perfect with this kind of thing so we've got to get up and keep trying.
"I don’t know how Angela still trusts me to lift her after the amount of times we’ve gone down though!"
The impressive stunt showed Sonny picking Angela up by her arm and leg as they spin round in a circle.
It's a build up to doing the death-defying headbanger – or bounce spin –ice dancing lift, which involves a skater being picked up only by their ankle and spun around by their partner.
During the risky move, the skater being swung is raised and lowered with their head often coming perilously close to the ice.
Sonny joins musician and telly presenter Myleene Klass, comedian Rufus Hound, rapper Lady Leshurr, Towie’s Billie Faiers and former England footballer Wayne Bridge on the skating contest.
The DJ hosts the breakfast show on Capital Radio with Roman Kemp, who finished third place on 2019’s I’m A Celebrity.
Marking seven days until the show's launch, Sonny wrote on Instagram: "This time next week we’ll be preparing for the first night of @dancingonice.
"I can’t believe how quickly it’s all come about but I’m so excited to be part of such an amazing show that is needed more now than ever.
"How everyone on the team have managed to pull off this year so far has been incredible.
"@egan.86 and I will be skating our dance on the second week of the show."
Sonny is set to show off his skills in week two of the ITV skating show, which kicks off on Sunday, January 17.
His fiancee Lauren Faith is set to cheer the radio star on as he makes his debut on the ice.
Sonny popped the question to his girlfriend of three years on a boat ride off the Greek island of Mykonos last year.
