Alfie Moon is set to wreak chaos by turning up to his ex-wife Kat Slater’s wedding on EastEnders.

Our exclusive photos show the moment the show favourite, played by Shane Richie, arrives at the ceremony in an old van in his soap comeback.

And he causes a right ding dong when he convinces bride Kat (Jessie Wallace) to jump in – leaving hubby-to-be Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) at the church.

An insider said: “Alfie makes a surprise appearance at the wedding and causes chaos. After Kat sees him, she jumps in the van even though it’s really dirty.

“It means her wedding dress gets completely ruined. Things get messy in every sense.”

The amazing snaps will spark speculation among fans that the wedding won’t go ahead.

Our insider added: “It looks like Phil will be stood up on his wedding day.”

Other guests on the big day will include fan favourite Big Mo, played by Laila Morse. The gobby
matriarch is back on Albert Square for a short stint.

These dramatic scenes, which were filmed in north London, will air on the BBC soap later this year.

Bosses are hoping the return of Alfie and Big Mo will be a ratings winner after the show lost a string of popular characters in recent months.

Shane, who first played Alfie in 2002, said: “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to be asked back to my TV home.”

And Laila said: “I have so much fun playing Mo so I can’t wait to see what mischief she gets up to this time.”

Bosses have also hired Jade Goody’s son Bobby Brazier to play newcomer Freddie Slater.

Bobby said of his new role: ""Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing.

"I'm very grateful."

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: "Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul," adding the teen is "a modern-day lad who's in touch with his spiritual side."

He continued to say that Brazier "an amazing young addition to the EastEnders cast, who brings heart and humility to the role".

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC.
