EastEnders fans have been heartbroken and left in awe by the devastatingly incredible performances by Linda Henry as Shirley Carter discovered that sister Tina was dead.

The horrible truth hit the Carter family after DI Arthurs confirmed that the body found recently was that of missing Tina.

Shirley had believed that Tina was alive and well, having had texts – and apparent reassurance from killer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) that he had seen her on a bus.

Of course, viewers know that Tina never left the Square. And as the truth hit home for Shirley she crumbled.

Fans were left in awe of Bad Girls and Beautiful Thing star Linda as she blew the audience away with the heartwrenching scenes.

And it’s not just fans who think she is amazing. Toby enthused to Metro.co.uk: WIth Gray, to see the puppy with his tail between his legs, so to speak, to have the other characters finally getting that higher status over Gray and to play that vulnerability, that caged animal, was a lot of fun especially with the likes of Linda Henry, who’s just a powerhouse and very scary when she’s in full Shirley mode!’

And that anger will come to the fore when Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) tells her that it was Gray who killed Tina.

Shirley declares that he is a dead man walking and soon, Gray hides in his house as Shirley bangs on the door.

How will Shirley deal with things when she comes face to face with Gray?

Well, we can’t say – but what we can promise is Linda will be phenomenal.

Because when isn’t she?
