Emmerdale fans call for return of character amid Harriet Finch scenes on ITV soap

Emmerdale fans called for the return of a character on Tuesday's episode as police officer Harriet Finch revealed new information about "dead" Jamie Tate.

Only recently, Gabby Thomas has been convinced that "dead" Jamie is back and is after their son, Thomas, with a series of clues heightening her paranoia.

During the latest instalment, Will Taylor, who Gabby accidentally shot lost week thinking it was Jamie, spoke to Harriet, who he had asked to look into Jamie's return, as he told her not to bother looking into it.

To which Harriet revealed: "I wouldn't be too sure of that, if I were you. I made some enquiries, nothing official obviously. It seems someone matching Jamie's description was spotted helping Hazel move out."

With Will replying: "So you think he's alive?"

To which Harriet admitted: "I think there's more to this than meets the eye…"

Viewers were left distracted during the scenes as they were quick to question where PC Swirling was, who is usually the go-to police officer on Emmerdale and works with Harriet.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Where's PC Swirling? #Emmerdale."

A different account joked: "PC Harriet doing Swirling out of a job. Not on. #Emmerdale."

Another follower wrote: "As much as I prefer Harriet as a police officer we seem to have lost our lovely PC Swirling."

While a different viewer added: "I Miss PC Swirling."

It comes as soap watchers were quick to react to Tuesday's episode after Emmerdale appeared to tease Jamie's return.

One person said: "Harriet finds evidence that suggests Jamie could still be alive! #Emmerdale."

A different account put: "I’m interested about where this Jamie story line is going… #Emmerdale."
