Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley admits to ‘trouble’ behind scenes due to busy schedule

Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley admitted that it's almost impossible to watch the hit ITV soap due to his hectic filming schedules.

The actor, who is best known for playing bad boy mechanic Cain Dingle in the Dales, confessed that he often has "trouble" when it comes to watching some of his scenes when it finally airs.

Talking to the Express about the drama which took place with his character and his rival Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) two weeks ago, Jeff, 52, said he may not be able to see it.

He explained: "Yeah, I mean, as long as I'm not working.

"I mean, that's the trouble – sometimes if you're still on set, you never really get to see when it goes out.

"But yeah, there'll be some way shape or form. I'll catch up upon it."

Emmerdale actor Jeff first took on the role of Cain Dingle back in 2000 but six years later he decided to part ways with the show.

Following his departure, Jeff performed in theatrical productions including Harold Pinter's The Caretaker and George Orwell's classic Animal Farm.

He later returned to the long-running soap in 2009.

Jeff has received critical acclaim for playing the role and had been nominated for the British Soap Award for Best Actor on three separate occasions.

During his time on Emmerdale, the actor married his co-star, Zoe Henry, in 2003.

Zoe, who is known for playing Rhona Goskirk, and Jeff welcomed their daughter Violet in 2005 and their son Stan in 2008.

But despite their happy union away from the spotlight, the real-life Emmerdale couple rarely shares any scenes together on the show and have asked producers to ensure their characters are kept at a distance.

Speaking to Inside Soap in 2020, Zoe said: "I think we probably both prefer not to work together! Of course we enjoy each other's company, yet I think we quite enjoy each other's independence at work.

"I don't know how well Rhona and Cain would get on, either – although I can see why it's a source of amusement for people if we're in the same scenes!"

Despite this, Zoe has admitted that she does learn her lines with her husband at home.
