The sixth season of Fear the Walking Dead is set to return this April, with a brand new trailer previewing more zombie action and riveting drama to come. This year, the AMC’s popular spin-off will introduce a new sinister villain who looks to be causing havoc for Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and the rest of the team.

The world of The Walking Dead is finally getting ready to make its long overdue return after facing significant coronavirus delays this year.

AMC’s mainline post-apocalyptic series will be coming back with six exciting bonus episodes, starting at the end of February.

Meanwhile, there’s just a couple of months left to wait before the show’s popular spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, wraps up its sixth season.

A brand new instalment for season 6b confirms the stakes have never been higher as the series is set to introduce John Glover as a new adversary for Alicia with a chilling agenda.

Glover himself kicks off the teaser with some ominous narration, setting up a bleak tone for the spin-offs continuation.

He intones: “Death, destruction, decay. What is happening to the world isn’t new. The world’s been breaking down since its inception.

“Everything is winding down, including us. Death is inevitable. But from this death comes new life.”

Then, in a sinister stinger at the end of the trailer, Alicia dubs her new foe ‘the king of the crazies’.

The new cast member also previews his unkempt look as the unnamed villain, complete with long hair and beard and a tatty suit jacket.

He ends the trailer by telling Alicia: “I’ve been looking for someone like you for a long, long time.”

American star John Glover is previously known for his villainous roles in 1980s classics such as Scrooged and Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

He has also played significant roles in the DC Universe, most recently as a secondary antagonist in 2019’s Shazam!, as well as playing a mad scientist in the infamous Batman & Robin.

Glover’s history playing some of cinema’s most deranged villains certainly makes for ideal casting as a new menace for Fear’s batch of survivors.

Fans are also hoping the new trailer is promising bigger and better moments for Alicia, who has yet to truly shine since her mother Madison (Kim Dickens) departed as the series’ protagonist in season four.

On YouTube, one viewer commented: “The last scene has been shown twice now in both trailers, I’m glad Alicia is gonna get more attention.

“My theory is that he knows Alicia somehow through Madison, if she is alive I hope.”

This comment also referred to a prevailing theory among the TWD fanbase that Madison will actually make her return to the series after seemingly being devoured by walkers at the end of season four.

Another viewer speculated: “CAN’T F*G WAIT! and if they top it all with Madison’s return, it can probably be one of the best episodes in the entire Walking Dead universe!”

As the ‘king of the crazies’ already seems to know a lot about Alicia, he could provide the first clue that Madison may still be alive and well somewhere.

Following some crushing delays last year, the next few years are set to revitalise the Walking Dead franchise in a major way with new spin-offs, an 11th season and even a trilogy of feature films all in the works.

Fear the Walking Dead season 6 continues Sunday, April 11 on AMC.
