Helen Skelton insists Strictly professionals DIDN’T want Hamza to win show | The Sun

HELEN Skelton has insisted that the Strictly Come Dancing professionals DIDN'T want Hamza Yassin to win the show.

The Countryfile star revealed that the dancers were rooting for Gorka Marquez to take home the Glitterball trophy.

Gorka, 32, has made it to the final of the show three times, alongside Helen, 39, Alexandra Burke and Maisie Smith.

This year, the professionals were said to be backing the long-running show star to take home the prize.

However, things didn't go to plan for the dancer when the public crowned wildlife cameraman Hamza, 32, the winner.

The Blue Peter star has since revealed that her pro partner was being supported by everyone to win.

Joined on her Radio 5 show by Gorka, the mum-of-three said: "Every pro on the show was desperate for him to win and that says everything abut him.

"He's my hero of the week," Helen added.

Speaking of Hamza's win, she went on: "Obviously we're delighted for Hamza because he put in some amazing dances through the season.

"But Gorka and I, our reaction, you could tell how gutted we were."

"I wasn't fuming but I wanted Helen to finish the season with the cherry on top," Gorka clarified after fans speculated he was "furious" with the result.

"I was happy for Hamza and Jowita, they've been amazing."

It comes after Strictly fans worried that Gorka could QUIT the BBC One show, after making it to the final three times without winning.

As the other celebrities rushed to congratulate Hamza on his win, fans noticed how Gorka looked upset and hung back from the crowd.

Writing to Twitter, one viewer said: "“I’m calling it now. Gorka is going to quit Strictly before next year."

Another chimed in: "Gorka will quit," as a third added: "Gorka looks like he’s about to whack someone on Strictly."

Meanwhile a fourth shared: "Poor Gorka absolutely can't hide his disappointment. His face. I feel you."
