Actress Angela Lonsdale first burst on to our screens playing police officer Emma Watts on ITV’s Coronation Street.

The TV star returned to our screens in a new soap role back in August playing Gill, the mum of bully Joseph Holmes IN Hollyoaks.

Joseph was seen fatally stabbed PC Saul Reeves and framed DeMarcus Westwood with a misleading video in the Channel Four soap.

Let’s take a look at the soap star’s life and amazing career…

EastEnders Ex

Angela was once part of one of soap’s hottest couples when she wed EastEnders star Perry Fenwick back in 2005. Perry, who played hapless loser Billy Mitchell on the BBC soap, was married to Angela for five years before declaring their “heartbreaking” split.

A spokesman for the couple said at the time: “Perry Fenwick and Angela Lonsdale have sadly separated after five years of marriage. They will not be making any further comment.”

A friend close to the couple gave more insight into their split, telling the Mirror: “They just ran out of love. They had a series of heart-to-hearts and decided to call it a day. No one else is involved.”

Perry proposed to Angela by writing in pebbles on a beach. They were considered to have one of the strongest marriages in showbusiness.

They share three children together Lucy, Isabella, and Jayden.

The news of their split came as a shock to the EastEnders cast, with an inside source on the show spilling: “No one knew there were any problems at all as Perry is always talking about Angela in glowing terms. No one saw this coming.”

Coronation Street Role

The actress made her debut in Manchester-based soap Coronation Street when she played Curly Watts' second wife, police woman Emma Taylor.

Sergeant Taylor embarked on a gripping love story with Curly Watts that gripped the nation and ultimately led to her exit from the show.

Emma met Curly when she arrived to investigate crimes in the area, from 2000 to 2003. They married on Christmas Eve 2000 and Emma gave birth to their son Ben on Boxing Day 2001.

In 2003 the couple put number 7 Coronation Street on the market and moved to Newcastle. But when Curly made a comeback for the 2010 spin-off DVD movie A Knight's Tale, he revealed that his marriage to Emma had since ended.

After Corrie, Angela starred in The Bill, Doctors and the children's TV drama Wolfblood. She played Grace Lane, the mother of Michelle Keegan's character Lance Corporal Georgie Lane in the BBC drama Our Girl and in 2018 she played “Scary” Sue Buchanan in hospital drama Holby City.

The gorgeous star is looking very different from the young copper we all came to know and love on the Cobbles.

Angela wowed fans with a summer selfie, dazzling with a perfect July tan while wearing a cute blue dress.

She styles herself completely differently with a fringe hairstyle and a colourful fashion sense.

She captioned the Instagram photo: "A day in the sun with bezzies is food for the soul!

"Feel so appreciative of everything #feedyoursoul."

She recently told OK! how Covid-19 had given her a new sense of perspective.

“Lockdown made me feel more grateful,” Angela said as she headed to Malta with pals Denise Welch, Jenny Powell and Kate Thornton.

“I feel grateful to reconnect with my best friends."
