Inside the lives of Emmerdale’s four different Samson Dingle actors and where they are now

It’s a big year for Emmerdale as the soap gears up to celebrate 50 years of being on TVs across the country.

In his time on the ITV soap Samson Dingle has been part of some of the soap’s biggest storylines since his birth to parents Alice and Sam Dingle in 2006.

His premature birth, mum’s cancer diagnosis and dad’s part in helping her die all happened in the first eight months of his time on the soap.

Since then, the now teen Samson has been played by four different actors: Bradley Milnes, Ben Shooter, Charlie Pell and currently by Sam Hall.

Bradley, 17, was the first person to play Samson in 2006. The tot appeared on screens for a year until 2007 and since then Bradley has kept a low profile with no other acting roles.

Next up was Ben Shooter who was the face of Samson until 2008 where he made headlines by being sacked for “crying too much”.

According to reports the youngster, who was two at the time, became upset during an on screen family row and burst into tears.

Speaking to The Sun at the time Ben’s mum Emma claimed her son was treated “no better than a prop”.

She added: “He got very upset when his screen dad was confronted by police and the Dingles. There was a lot of shouting going on. I had to take him straight home to calm down.”

Ben went on to star in a commercial for Iceland but has not been back on screens since.

Following this Charlie Pell took on the role of Samson Dingle in 2008 until 2010 and has not been on screens since.

Currently Samson is played by 18 year old Sam Hall who is originally from Bradford.

He’s been on the soap for the past 12 years and as Samson has grown up he’s been involved in many of the soap’s biggest plots.

He previously gave Noah his urine sample so he could be accepted into the military – only for Noah’s mum, Charity, to find out and report the situation.

In May 2021 the teen took on thugs from school after his step mum Lydia had her identity stolen in a scam.

Samson witnessed the attack, but didn’t intervene, however it soon became clear he knew the boys involved. He ended up taking a crowbar to school and chasing the lads with it to get revenge.

More recently Samson was involved in Meena Jutla’s storyline with a stolen ring and he also took up a job at the beauty salon after realising he has quite the hand for make-up and hairstyling.
