Kate Garraway slams ‘uncomfortable’ Channel 4 show

Kate Garraway talks about the new Naked Education show

Good Morning Britain presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray debated the latest Channel 4 series, Naked Education. The show sees school children being educated about the changes that will happen to their bodies as they grow up, with naked adults standing in front of them to model. Kate expressed her views on the controversial series and admitted that she found it “shocking”.

The latest series came off the back of Naked Attraction and is presented by Anna Richardson, Yinka Bokinni, and Dr Alex George, focusing on body positivity.

Discussing the series, Kate began: “A new show has caused a storm after it featured a group of adults, stripping nude in front of school children.”

Adil added: “The broadcaster says Naked Education is about teaching young people to be comfortable with their bodies.”

The ITV show played a clip of the show where the young school kids burst into laughter as the adults dropped their robes.

Not sure how she felt about the series, Kate explained: “It’s the reality of it that is quite shocking and how it would be handled.

“You know, a stranger in a matter of meters away from a child, an under 18-year-old we are talking about, they are not tiny but they are still young.

“Naked when we have so much going on when we are trying to make people conscious of appropriateness and inappropriateness.

“It becomes quite a moral confusion and I pity the head teacher that would have to navigate it.

“There’s something about the physicality of a stranger being naked in front of a teenager which I just feel uncomfortable about, because of all the things that we read about.

“It depends what the debate is. It depends on the youngsters. It depends on the age. There are so many things.”

The first episode aired on Tuesday, April 4 where a group of teenagers aged 14 to 16 were taught about body hair.

The segment concluded with four adults stripping off in front of them to show the diversity of people’s bodies.

The four adults also spoke to the teenagers, telling them of their own issues with body image. They also discussed the subject of pubic hair with one another.

One participant explained that she had a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome, which means she grows hair in places she otherwise typically would not.

After hearing her story, one of the teenagers Mille said: “People shouldn’t be judged for the way they are. It’s just wrong.”

Naked Education airs Tuesday from 8pm on Channel 4.
