Major death tragedy for John Paul in Hollyoaks amid van crash horror?

Lives are on the line in Hollyoaks, as John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) loses control of a van while on a school trip, resulting in devastation and tragedy.

The deputy head teacher, who has secretly been struggling with his reliance on alcohol, is tasked with driving the vehicle ahead of the camping trip.

Before all that, however, he trips and falls, and Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) catches the whole thing on camera.

John Paul finds out when he later spots the teen laughing at the video, and thus he resolves to take drastic action.

Olivia Bradshaw (Emily Burnett), meanwhile, finds out that Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) is supervising the school trip, and makes it her mission to replace her.

She ultimately succeeds, as an opportunity presents itself to gain favour with Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace) when she witnesses Nancy and John Paul shouting.

Olivia is therefore made designated chaperone.

Ahead of the trip, John Paul opens up to Prince (Malique Thompson-Dwyer) about the reasons behind his relationship with the booze, and Prince subsequently takes on the role of guardian, as he makes it his mission to keep him away from the booze.

But as the day of the camping trip arrives, John Paul finds a bottle of vodka in his puffer jacket. Doing his best to keep it concealed, he remains visibly on edge.

The question is: will he be tempted to take a drink?

That remains to be seen, but soon enough, he’s made designated driver. As they set off on the road, however, the kids become rowdier, and it’s not long before they’re all lost.

Tragedy then strikes, as JP closes his eyes, before losing control of the vehicle.

Afterwards, he regains consciousness, horrified to discover what has transpired. Olivia takes charge, as she rounds up the kids from the van.

Mason Chen-Williams (Frank Kauer), meanwhile, is worried sick as he realises that newcomer Freya is still in the van, and she’s stuck under all of the luggage.

Later, the paramedics show up, and Olivia is nowhere to be found. John Paul therefore sets off to look for her, and soon enough, he makes an unsettling discovery.

Everyone is rushed to hospital, and JP comes face-to-face with Freya’s mum and Lexi (Natalie Anderson). Prince, however, wants more answers than anyone.

Will John Paul open up about what he’s been dealing with? What’s more, will anyone lose their life as a result of the van tragedy?
