Married At First Sight star Matt's bombshell leaves relationship with Daniel on the rocks in shock twist

MARRIED At First Sight star Matt's bombshell has left his relationship with Daniel on the rocks in a shock twist.

The newlyweds, who are the show's first gay couple, hit a stumbling block when Matt did a major u-turn on moving to Daniel's native Northern Ireland.

Matt, whose from Leeds, dropped the bombshell news on the couple's final date -a sailing trip.

During a teaser clip from their romantic date, Matt said: "I don't think I should move to Northern Ireland," leaving Daniel shell shocked.

Previously the pair had discussed Matt moving there so Daniel could pursue his dream of opening a holistic retreat in Ireland.

The news was met with a frosty reception from Matt's parents, who lived just 10minutes away from him, as they were concerned about him missing his friends and family.

Matt tried to convince them that he would only be a short plane ride away, and he wouldn't be moving to Northern Ireland and just 'switching off his phone.'

After taking a few days to process the big move, it seemed Matt had a rethink and dropped the bombshell about his relationship u-turn to Daniel in a teaser for next week's shows.

Meanwhile fans have demanded answers to why Matt and Dan's previous absences and their lengthy honeymoon weren't explained.

Just earlier this month the pair were conspicuously absent from the show's first ever dinner party leaving fans wondering what happened to them.

Daniel went on to tell Morag that he and his new husband had been held up on honeymoon, but it was "all good".

But tonight they reappeared for 'Yes Week' and brushed over the huge gaps in their on-screen romance.

One raged: "So are they never going to address the reason Matt and Daniel never attended the first dinner party and commitment ceremony? Cause I be nosy AF!"

Fuming fans erupted on Twitter after the pair sat down to chat with relationship experts Paul Brunson and Mel Schilling.

"Are we ever going to find out why Daniel and Matt took a longer honeymoon?" another remarked.

A third fan reacted: "I assumed they got stuck somewhere because of Covid"

Another typed: "Same, but it's the fact they are not saying the reason that puzzles me!"

The show was filmed during the pandemic, so viewers are speculating that their delay had something to do with Covid-19 travel restrictions.

This seems like the most likely explanation, but Channel 4 hasn't confirmed the rumour.
