Season four ended on what could potentially be the biggest cliffhanger of the entire show. With the many twists and turns the show has provided, fans theorized the most shocking one yet.

Ever since Netflix announced season five will be the final instalment of Money Heist, fans have been going wild with theories, trying to figure out what the next season will bring.

Netflix also confirmed season five will be split into two parts, with the first airing on September 3 and the second on December 3.

One cliffhanger that left fans on the edge of their seat was the fate of The Professor (Played by Alaro Morte).

After successfully hitching a plan to help Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituño) escape custody, he was tracked down by the freshly fired police inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri).

With her gun pointed at his head, Alicia wanted to get revenge for not only being fired but for also robbing The Bank of Spain.

The fate of The Professor is yet to be known but fans of the show are certain that he will meet his demise in the upcoming season.

In season three, Rio (Miguel Herrán) had been captured by police and, in order to release him, The Professor established a plan.

After unsuccessfully deploying officers to arrest the gang, The Professor called Alica to tell her that the officer had been captured and that the gang would be killed.

They convince them they can’t kill Rio in custody but can do so while he in the bank or attempting to escape.

According to these theorising fans, this could be potential foreshadowing.

A viewer took to Reddit to post their theory based on that moment: “On the basis of this scene, I think everyone will die.

“Even if that theory where Tokyo (played by Úrsula Corberó) is the only one alive and narrating the story comes true, she too will kill herself after the narration while in jail, because in Part 1 Episode 1, in the beginning, she mentions that if she’s not physically free, she’d at least want her soul to be free.”

Another fan agreed with this theory, writing: “I actually think Tokyo will die BECAUSE she is the narrator like it was a story about her death and what led to it. Maybe a sacrifice for Rio or something?”

As the pair were once an item and remained very close friends, perhaps Tokyo still has a thing for Rio.

With the devastating losses of Nairobi (Alba Flores), Oslo (Radko Dragić), Moscow (Agustin Ramos), and Berlin (Andrés de Fonollosa) perhaps the hit Spanish crime drama is planning to kill off the rest of the team

With the cast taking to Instagram to announce filming had officially ended, it won’t be a long wait to find out what happens to The Professor.

Fans will have to wait until September 3 to find out whether this theory will come true.
