Nina and Seb die after brutally violent attack in Coronation Street?

Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) were left fighting for their lives in Coronation Street tonight (May 5), after they were subjected to a violent and unprovoked attack.

The popular couple were on cloud nine when the first of tonight’s two editions of the ITV soap kicked off, as an excited Seb set off to retrieve the special necklace he’d purchased for Abi (Sally Carman) ahead of her wedding.

When he returned to the cobbles, he presented Abi with the gift, and she burst into tears, before asking if he’d give her away.

Seb, emotional, was delighted, and accepted his mum’s request.

Afterwards, he headed off with Nina for a romantic stroll by the canal, but conflict ensued when they crossed paths with Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) and a couple of others.

Corey proceeded to hurl vile abuse at Nina, while Kelly – egged on by the lads – smacked her across the face.

Nina, fed up with Corey’s abuse, decided to head home, and thus she and Seb departed.

Corey, however, wasn’t finished, and incited his army of youths to give chase.

As darkness fell, Nina and Seb walked down a quiet and secluded street – aware of the impending danger, as they attempted to increase their pace.

However, it was too late, as Corey, Eli and the others set upon them, knocking the teens to the floor.

Seb and Nina were both subjected to a violent and unprovoked attack.

The police subsequently showed up on the eponymous street to inform Abi and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) of the assault, and both residents headed straight to the hospital, where they comforted their respective loved one.

Roy told Nina that he will be there for her no matter what, while Abi – struggling to comprehend what had happened – did the same.

However, as the episode came to a close, a panic-stricken Abi begged the doctors to come in and see to her son, as something wasn’t right.

Will Seb be okay? Will Nina? She was in need of emergency surgery following the attack, and remained unconscious at the end of the episode.

The teens could, of course, recover and be left with lifelong injuries – or long term mental health ramifications. Either way, it’s safe to say there’s a tough road ahead for all involved.

Coronation Street continues Friday May 7 at 7:30pm on ITV.
