Though Starz has not even aired half of the second season of Power Book II: Ghost, fans are already hype for Power Book IV: Force. Set in the same time period as Ghost, the series will follow another fan-favorite character in an entirely new city. Since characters in the Power Universe often overlap there is a chance that we will also see some familiar faces in the new show.
Will Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) show up in Force?
‘Power Book IV: Force’ will premiere on Feb 6, 2022
After months of anticipation, Starz has announced that the Tommy Egan-led series, Power Book IV: Force will premiere on Feb. 6, 2022. This means that it will air the same night as the Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 finale. Sikora and the cast of Force have been giving fans hints at what we can expect from the series.
“It’s really f***ing good,” Sikora told Entertainment Weekly. “People are going to love it. I think that it’s going to take all facets of Tommy that we’ve built up to until now to not only survive but to potentially thrive — and to potentially leave. You don’t know if it’s going to be one city and then another city and if he’s going to keep bopping or what connections need to be made.”
The official Starz description for the series gives even more details. “As Tommy leaves New York after losing Ghost, LaKeisha, and the only city he’s ever known, he makes a quick detour to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades,” it reads. “What was supposed to be a quick stop turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried. One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews.”
Will Saxe appear on ‘Force’?
Though Tommy will be in a new city, surrounded by an entirely new cast of characters. Some crossovers and overlaps could happen. After all, Tommy appeared in the season 1 finale of Ghost. Moreover, Shane Johnson who portrays Cooper Saxe in the Power Universe says he’d be happy to share the screen with Sikora again.
“I certainly hope Saxe pops up in other spin-offs,” he told Express. “That would be so much fun. “Working with Joe Sikora again would be so gratifying.”
Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp has also said that she’s open to crossovers. However, she wants to make sure all of her shows exist on their own.
Tommy will be shocked by the dynamics of Chicago in ‘Power Book IV: Force’
Since he turns up in the Windy City unexpectedly, Tommy is unprepared for some of the interworkings of Chicago. The Midwestern city is still one of the most segregated cities in the country. “The racism of Chicago, the dividedness of Chicago, is foreign to Tommy in a lot of ways, and so I think that is going to be a really interesting topic for us to tackle, the separation of Black and white and Latin people in terms of neighborhoods,” Sikora told Entertainment Weekly. “We have these real brilliant homegrown actors who are really showing the diversity and quality of the city of Chicago. I’m really proud of that.”
We could certainly see Saxe showing up in Chicago and sticking out like a sore thumb.
