GUS Malcolms has been eager to build his own family with his new wife Lucy – and former wife Rhona's frozen embryos.
The Emmerdale vet played by Zoe Henry makes a huge discovery next week and her marriage to Marlon Dingle could be in trouble.
Actor Alan McKenna joined the Emmerdale line-up earlier this year when his ITV alter ego, Gus Malcolms, paid his ex-wife Rhona a visit in the eponymous village.
Desperate to have a family with his new bride Lucy, Gus asked Rhona for her consent to use the frozen embryos she had stored during their marriage – which she struggled to accept and, eventually, refused.
However, Gus refused to take heed of Rhona's concerns and, in recent scenes of the Yorkshire-based drama, her new husband Marlon (portrayed by Mark Charnock) found out Lucy was pregnant.
The mother-to-be and her husband swore a stunned Marlon to secrecy but, in scenes due to be aired next week, the chef struggles to keep Gus' secret and ends up blurting the news to a shocked Rhona.

Marlon confesses that he found Gus and a pregnant Lucy in hospital while Rhona struggles to process the news.
The following day, Rhona is determined to strike back and taps up Ethan Anderson (Emile John) for some legal advice.
Unfortunately, the solicitor makes it clear that a legal battle with Gus and Lucy would be arduous.
Marlon and Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) both manage to convince Rhona to speak to Gus before doing anything else and she arranges to meet him the next day.
