Seann Walsh will be looking to rebuild himself while starring on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, a psychologist has told OK! magazine.

Images and a video of Seann and pro dancer Katya Jones were released in October 2018, which showed the pair kissing at a pub in Central London. At the time, the smooch came as a massive shock to everyone, especially as Katya was married to fellow professional Neil Jones, while Seann was in a relationship with then-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.

Speaking about the impact the ordeal had on his mental health after, last year he said he was still on anti-depressants as it took a toll on his life.

Now, behavioural and media psychologist Jo Hemminngs has exclusively told OK! that Seann will keep his distance from Matt Hancock in a bid to rebuild himself.

"Part of his reasons for going into I'm A Celebrity is to kind of rebuild himself away from that scandal, and actually if he allies with Matt Hancock, it's almost like that becomes redundant of making that point of trying to distance himself from it," she explained.

Hancock himself made headlines in June 2021, when he was forced to quit as health secretary after The Sun newspaper published CCTV images of him kissing and embracing his aide Gina Coladangelo in his Whitehall office on 6 May – going against his own Covid-19 social distancing rules.

The psychologist continued: "Enough time has passed – he [Seann] has got the opportunity to say, yeah, 'I was an **s and God, I really did suffer with my mental health afterwards.'"

Hemmings added that people are likely to warm to him as we've "all made mistakes".

She continued: "I think he has a good chance of kind of overcoming this and talk about it and mental health issues, etc. that many of them may have suffered in that time."

"He's got to kind of distance himself from Matt Hancock. He does not want to be associating himself with a man who's also made mistakes," she added.

Speaking on the Take Flight podcast last year, Seann recalled how his kiss with Katya changed his life as he said: "From that point on, my life changed forever.

"The panic attacks came back – big, big panic attacks, and I ended up having what I later found out were Vertigo Seizures.

Seann went on to say that prior to the kiss, he had plenty of professional dreams and aspirations, but then felt like he was "living without hope".

I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here launches on ITV on 6 November at 9pm.
