Teletubbies Sun Baby now works in security and looks totally unrecognisable

The Teletubbies Sun Baby looks a lot different nowadays – and she has a very different job after finding her feet in the world of children's TV.

Jess Smith was headhunted for the role of the Sun Baby after a chance encounter at the hospital as a baby.

But it looks like she hasn't decided to pursue acting as her full-time career as an adult, as she now works in a very different field.

Jess decided to pursue a job in security after becoming a household name, and has big plans for the future.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, she explained: "I now work for a security company based in Medway, managing the administrative side of the process.

"I live in Whitstable and love being on the beach!"

As for her future plans, Jess confirmed they include "travelling and seeing more parts of the world, before settling down and starting a family".

The star also confirmed she doesn't remember much about her stint as a Teletubbies fixture – which only took half a day to film.

She said: "Unfortunately I don't remember anything from the original filming. I've been told I was placed in front of a mirror and was laughing at myself.

"I was put in a high chair, and my dad was playing with toy cars on the ground to make me look down. I think we were there for about half a day taking different shots and angles!"

On being spotted for the role, Jess said: "My mum had taken me to the hospital to be weighed at a very young age.

"It was the same day a producer had been in touch with the hospital asking for names of smiley, cheerful babies.

"I believe I took part in a mini audition before I was chosen!"

Jess still gets asked for autographs now, though she confessed it's difficult for people to recognise her as she now looks totally different.

"I don't necessarily get recognised," she said, "but once somebody has been told who I am, they can see the resemblance.

"I've been asked for photos and autographs over the years!"

And does she regret finding fame as the Sun Baby? Not a chance.

"I'm glad my parents put me forward for the role.

"It's become such a big part of my life, and I wouldn't want it any other way."
