The Chase's Bradley Walsh branded one lucky contestant a “legend” after competing in a tense head-to-head round.

During Thursday’s visit to the ITV studios, the 62-year-old welcomed four new quizzers onto the programme where they put their general knowledge to the test.

As fans tuned in for the primetime show, the former Coronation Street star introduced contestants Jonathan, Emma, Khalid and Megan to battle it out to take home the all-important cash prize.

This week the quartet were up against Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett who made sure to bring his A game as he faced off against the wise quizheads.

But the pro-quizzer struggled to eliminate any of the impressive contestants despite a number of close calls on the show.

When the 21-year-old student stepped up to the podium, The Beast put his efforts into booting him from the panel.

After winning an impressive £7,000 in the cash-builder round, it was down to the nail-biting head-to-head round with the 57-year-old.

After answering six head-scratching questions, the student managed to successfully make it through to the final round despite the Chaser being hot on his toes.

Bradders was quick to congratulate the star on his impressive achievement on the show.

He said: "Fantastic performance that mate, Khalid, what a performance that.

"You'll be a ledge, they'll go, 'Khalid, Khalid, Khalid, Khalid'. What a team."

But when it came to the final round, the team struggled to beat the Chaser, who caught them with plenty of time to spare.
