The Masked Dancer presenter Joel Dommett has told viewers to watch out for one particularly big character that will feature in the show.

In an exclusive chat with OK! Joel, 35, said that he and the star detectives – Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross – all fell head over heels for character Carwash and couldn’t wait to see what the mystery celebrity did next.

Teasing what’s to come in the ITV show when it comes to the increasingly elaborate costumes, he said: “They’re absolutely crazy. They’re so bizarre. Everyone immediately fell in love with Carwash.”

Joel explained: “It’s such an amazing character. I love that we’ve got to the point where the costumes don’t even have faces on anymore – they’re just objects!”

“It’s shown how much fun you can have with the costumes. It can literally just be an object, I really liked it.”

And it seems viewers will be just as excited about the stars inside the crazy costumes, as Joel shared that there’s some big celebrity names that left him and the judges open-mouthed during the reveal stage of the competition.

The former I’m a Celebrity contestant said: “My assumption with The Masked Dancer was that the names were going to be lesser than the last series of The Masked Singer.”

“But I can honestly tell you – and I’m not even just saying this – that the names are equal to, if not better,” the comedian continued.

“There really are some amazing reveals. There’s one in particular that completely took us all by absolute surprise.”

Continuing to touch on the top-secret star signings, Joel said: “There’s someone who is unbelievably recognisable.

“They would never be able to do a show as them because everyone would judge them on being them.”

“So it’s so nice to take that out of the picture completely and just let it all go.”

The Masked Dancer starts tonight and will then run across the whole week, as a line-up of famous faces don bonkers costumes and show off their best moves.

But who’s behind the masks? Let the addictive guessing game commence!
