So far on Trigger Point, Lana Washington (played by Vicky McClure) learned a far-right group called the Crusaders took responsibility for the mosque attack. Lana found a forensic link between the bomb at the mosque and the one at Westhaven. On Sunday, Lana and the EXPO team raced against time to stop the bombers before they struck again but in a huge nail-biting twist, the bomb disposal expert was pushed to her limits after she found out her brother was in grave danger. While the episode was filled with suspense, some ITV viewers were disappointed by the “muffled” sound quality.
Enraged fans took to social media to express their concern with ITV producers.
TheChiantiKid2 queried: “No idea whats happening – made worse by the sound quality.
“Suspect all the explanation is in the muffled dialogue – as soon as I get it turned up to 60 the sound normalises and blows the speaker #TriggerPoint.”
damEBradbury concurred: “There really is something wrong with the sound levels on #TriggerPoint … thought it was just my telly. Come on #itv – get it sorted.” (sic)
A disgruntled GazzaGinger claimed: “Can’t hear a f*****g word…. Oh s**t now it’s too loud. Ffs. #triggerpoint.”
Meanwhile, other viewers had to put subtitles on to help comprehend what the characters were saying.
johnreed222333 snapped: “Dreadful sound quality on #TriggerPoint.
“I understand so much more with subtitles.”
mikeasharp joked: “#TriggerPoint on. Best turn the volume up full so I can hear the muffled dialogue.
“Then blow my ear drums out during the explosions.”
He wondered: “Were the sound crew social distancing?”
In the final moments of episode four, Lana became aware of the fact her brother Billy (Ewan Mitchell) had made friends with the Crusaders and made a desperate call to establish his whereabouts.
Earlier on in the season, viewers have witnessed Lana’s strained relationship with her brother Billy but the family still show up at his bedsit to celebrate his birthday.
Only to find he’s not there, she asked: “Billy’s not turned up to his own party, what’s new?”
But Billy’s new allies helped him break the window of a Halal butchers, a drunken act that meant he would face charges of racially aggravated criminal damage.
But on Sunday night, Lana came to his beck and call hopeful she could save him from the far-right group.
As the EXPO team listened in to their phone call, Billy was told about the dangers of his new friends whom he was on his way to meet.
But in the scenes that followed, taking a turn for the worst, Lana and her team believed the car he was driving could be rigged with a bomb.
After parking up, Billy was left in shock at the idea a bomb could be planted underneath the car.
His older sister approached the car opening the passenger door but in a surprise twist, the car blew up with Billy still inside.
Although it is still unknown as to whether he has died, next week is set to be a show stopper.
Trigger Point returns to ITV on Sunday at 9pm.
