For the best part of seven years on History and Amazon Prime Video, Floki (played by Gustaf Skarsgard), Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Bjorn Lothbrok (Alexander Ludwig) kept Vikings viewers hooked as they transported viewers back to centuries gone by. However, with the series coming to a close after six seasons late last year, Skarsgard, Winnick and Ludwig have moved onto pastures new. And it’s Ludwig’s latest role in new Starz drama Heels which has led to his co-stars proving their bond is still going as strong as ever.

Ludwig takes on the role of Ace Spade in the new wrestling drama, starring opposite Stephen Amell as his brother Jack Spade.

The two wrestler siblings will find their rivalry and brotherly relationship pushed to the limit as they vie to take their late father’s wrestling promotion to the national stage.

And while fans everywhere will undoubtedly be tuning in to Starz on Sunday for the premiere, it sounds like Skarsgard will be joining them.

Reaching out to his former co-star on Instagram, the Floki actor shared a promo image for Heels before penning a sweet message of support to the Bjorn star.

“Congrats to my brother @alexanderludwig for all the great reviews of @heelsstarz!!” Skarsgard began.

The Vikings star finished off the post on his story: “Can’t wait to watch this. Premieres on Sunday!”

Responding to his colleague’s kind words, Ludwig took to his own social media page to reply.

“Love you brother [love heart emoji],” Ludwig replied – much to the joy of Vikings fans.

Winnick also weighed in with her words of praise for her former colleague as she replied to a post from Ludwig promoting the series.

Ludwig had penned: “The critics response for @heelsstarz has been incredible! Beyond grateful for all the love for the show.

“Thank you truly -IT AIRS THIS SUNDAY- our cast and crew put their blood sweat and tears into making this. I hope you love it as much as much as we loved making it.”

In response, Winnick beamed with pride as she commented: “Hell ya!! So damn proud of you!!!”

With Heels getting underway on August 15, Ludwig followed up the exchange with Skarsgard and Winnick with a series of clips to express his excitement.

And it appears the hype has gotten to the actor who admitted he “hasn’t slept” because of the new show airing.

“So it’s 5:30am in Orlando, Florida,” he began on his Instagram stories. “I didn’t sleep a wink last night,

“Probably because Heels is premiering today. Thank you to everyone who turned up for the pilot screening at MegaCon last night.

“I’m so glad you loved the pilot, we’re 100 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes right now which is blowing mind and that people are loving it.

“So if you get the chance, please go check it out. So proud of this show, so proud of this cast, so damn proud of this crew.

“Everybody put their hearts and soul into it so I hope you enjoy it,” Ludwig signed off.

Heels premieres on Starz in the USA and Starzplay in the UK on Sunday, August 15.
