THIS is the horrifying moment a cheetah is snatched from the riverside by a crocodile.
Both creatures are predators in the wild, but in a disturbing video, the young cheetah soon became prey after getting too close to the water.
The clip appears on wildlife channel WildEarth on Freeview, and was filmed at the &Beyond Phinda nature reserve in South Africa.
The male cheetah club went to the waters edge alone, as its mother and another cub were further back off screen.
This is unusual as typically, the mother would accompany her cubs to the water.
A safari guide predicted the drama that was about to unfold as the cheetah edged ever closer to the water for a drink, saying: "Oh no! That's so close to the crocodile."

The crocodile isn't visible to viewers at this point, and the cheetah laps up some water with its tongue.
But suddenly, the crocodile appears from nowhere and grabs the cheetah around the neck with its mouth.
The cheetah squeals but is unable to fight the crocodile off as it drags it into the water.
There is some thrashing near the surface before the crocodile pulls the cheetah deeper underwater and further out into the river.

Seconds later, the water became still again, signalling the cheetah's sad death.
In a further heartbreaking twist, the mother and its other cub called out for the lost animal and remained by the water hole for days hoping for its return.
