Wes Nelson eyes up epic Love Island return twist ahead of 2021 series launch

Wes Nelson has shared his hopes to return to the Love Island villa but this time not as a contestant.

The 23-year-old TV personality shot to fame on the fourth series of the ITV2 dating show in 2018.

Over the past three years, the former nuclear systems design engineer has been working hard to make it in the music industry and he signed a solo record deal with EMI Records last year.

His debut single See Nobody topped the charts in 2020, and his brand new track Nice To Meet Ya featuring rapper Yxng Bane is set to overtake sales of the first track.

He is now hoping to follow in the footsteps of Tom Zanetti, Mark Wright, Sean Paul and Craig David by performing for this year's batch of contestants inside the famous villa.

When asked if he'd ever take part in the reality show again, Wes told Daily Star: "You could probably get me back in if I was singing. I wouldn't go in as a contestant.

"I'm waiting for that call from the villa. That could be my way back in."

Wes and his partner at the time Megan Barton-Hanson reached the grand final of Love Island after winning over viewers with their rollercoaster romance.

Offering some words of wisdom to the new batch of contestants heading into the villa this mont, he said: "I think just you've got to be unapologetically yourself.

"People sometimes go in there with a game plan or with an idea of what a Love Island contestant should like but really you should take it for what it is.

"It's a big holiday in a big villa with a lot of girls and lads having a good time.

"Don't over think it and go in there and enjoy it."

Reminiscing about the days leading up to his big debut on the show, Wes added: "It was a daunting time. You don't know really what to expect but I had a great time.

"I tried to not think about it too much. I did go to the gym a bit before I went in.

"There wasn't any pressure but you just want to look your best at all times."

Wes recently teamed up with Dott eScooters to help him find his way around London on a state-of-the-art electric scooter.

The Stoke-on-Trent lad has been living in the capital for almost four years but admitted he is a bit clueless when it comes to getting around the big city.

He joked: "I'm probably the most lost geezer in London.

"I've not really found a good way of finding my way around London and discovering all the places that you should be seeing.
