Adventure Island theme park in Southend is evacuated as ‘knife-wielding men brawl’ and panicked families flee

Adventure Island in Southend, Essex has reportedly been evacuated after a ‘fight broke out’.

Unconfirmed reports suggest there was a stabbing in the park. 

According to witness reports, a fight of around 40 people broke out, some armed with knives which the security were powerless to do anything about.

A person told The Mirror: ‘A fight broke out in the queue on the rollercoaster opposite the main ticket office. 

‘Security guards ran to the incident and there was about 30 to 40 people fighting.

‘Security couldn’t contain the incident.The suspects had knives. Everyone was told to evacuate or stay inside the centre area.

‘I and a number of other people called 999. There was a huge police attendance.’ 

The theme park has been closed over the incident, although there is no confirmation what happened.

One person on social media said: ‘Not sure what’s happening we have been evacuated out of Adventure Island due to a code Red.’ 

Another person claimed the incident started a ‘stampede’ from panicked patrons.  

Others say the fight involved members of security. 

Local bus company EnsignBus confirmed their services have been suspended as a result of the incident. 

 They tweeted: ‘Due to a Police incident, buses are unable to serve the Kursaal bus stops for the rest of the day. Please use the Southend Pier bus stop.’
