I'm a mum-of-12 and spend £300 a week on groceries – constant price hikes are a nightmare

A SUPERMUM slammed “mental” price rises as she revealed she’s struggling to cover the cost of feeding her 12 kids.

Zoe Sullivan, 43, told how she’s forking out at least £300 every week on her mega-brood and is horrified by the constant hikes.

And she admitted her and hubby Ben are constantly smashing through their monthly budget.

On her vlog Zoe, from Lossiemouth, Moray, said: “I don’t like going shopping very much – especially when everything is so much more expensive than it was last week.

“The prices on everything have gone up by 15p and 20p. It’s mental.

"It’s very stressful and quite scary when you see it for yourself.

“Our budget is already probably gone in three weeks rather than four. We were struggling to make it last four weeks before.

“Now you’re almost using up a whole extra week’s worth of shopping money. It’s trying to make things stretch.”

Zoe does the shopping on a Saturday night while Ben feeds the kids so that she doesn’t miss out on doing fun stuff with them.

She chases bargains and often goes to more than one store so she can get the best deals, and always checks her receipts so knows what everything costs.

Calvin Harris ENGAGED to Vick Hope after whirlwind ONE-MONTH romance

To cut down on waste and avoid hassle the couple always cook two evening meals for the youngsters, aged from 17 to baby Florence who was born in April.

They serve up a core dish including the likes of spaghetti bolognese or pasta but anyone who doesn’t fancy that can have something along the lines of chicken nuggets and chips.

Zoe said: “We can’t afford to be chucking food out. Nobody has got the money to waste on throwing things in the bin.”

The pair quit booze four years ago because they couldn’t afford that anymore.

The one vice they have left, apart from a Chinese takeaway on a Friday night, is chocolate.

But Zoe went on a rant when she noticed an increase in her beloved buttons.

She said: “I was really angry. The big bags of chocolate buttons are my treat at the weekend.

“They’re now £1.25 instead of a pound but there’s 30g less in a bag. Essentially you’re paying 50 per cent more.

“That’s my buttons, don’t mess with them. You’re getting less and paying more. It’s ridiculous and I was raging.”

The couple revealed they aim for moderation when it comes to food rather than banning anything or forcing the youngsters to eat stuff they don’t like.

RAF worker Ben, 47, said: “At the end of the day our kids are happy and healthy. There is no stress around meal times. There is no dilemma about feeding them.

“And we’re not stressed out about meal times either. I think that’s the key. Because who needs that in their life?”

We told how Florence took just 20 mins to arrive and Zoe and Ben are already talking about having another baby.

They lift the lid on what it's like having 14 of them under the same roof in regular video updates.
