My kids screamed & sobbed as vicious bulldog attacked our family at park | The Sun

A MUM has told of the horrifying moment a bulldog attacked her puppy in the park as her kids watched on in horror.

Rachel Doherty said the dog charged towards them in Salford's Albert Park, Greater Manchester, before mauling her husband and tiny puppy.

Terrified Rachel grabbed her 14-week-old Cavapoo Bobby and threw him into the arms of her husband, Wes.

But the bulldog continued to jump up and repeatedly bit the tiny pup, with Rachel's three kids, four, six and nine forced to watch in horror.

Rachel told Manchester Evening News: "We had only just arrived in the park when this dog just leaped in the air and started running towards us.

"This dog was huge – it was easily triple the size of our dog. It just launched itself at my husband, and he was yelling and trying to hold our dog up in the air so it couldn't reach him.

"We were all screaming. My children were crying and asking if Bobby was going to die. I can't get their screams out of my head, it was traumatic."

Little Bobby was rushed for emergency surgery on his groin and stomach while Wes was left needing a tetanus jab and antibiotics to treat deep bite wounds.

Rachel claimed the owner of the aggressive dog – believed to be an American bulldog – eventually came running over and managed to pull his dog away before leaving the scene.

But her husband Wes believes their pup could have died, had they not taken him to the vets on time.
