The owner of the dash cam footage, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: ‘Me and my girlfriend were sat in our car waiting to start our night shift.

”All of a sudden a car sped round the corner and lost control, hitting the BT green box and saving in front my eyes the two lads’ lives.

‘It’s so lucky that green box was there.’

The out-of-control vehicle dislodges the cable box from the ground, and the vehicle flips onto its side and spins 360 degrees with the driver’s door to the floor.

After the vehicle comes to a stop, wheels down, people begin flocking towards the scene of the crash looking bewildered.

According to an eyewitness, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

The female passenger in the car that captured the dashcam footage says: ‘Call the ambulance and the police. Now!’

After smashing into the cable box, plumes of smoke can be seen to emerge from the vehicle. An eyewitness said police were called and the driver fled from the scene on foot

Police attended the scene, according to the owner of the dashcam footage, although West Midlands Police told MailOnline they had no record of the incident.

The eyewitness said: ‘No one was injured, just a little shaken.

‘The driver ran away after the accident. That’s all I know.’
