Woman, 46, found dead inside flat before injured man, 53, arrested on suspicion of murder | The Sun

POLICE have launched a murder probe after a woman was found dead in a flat in South East London.

The 46-year-old's lifeless body was discovered by cops after they had to force their way into the pad at Canute Gardens in Bermondsey.

Officers were called to the address shortly before 8.30pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of welfare concerns.

They then made the tragic discovery upon forcing entry to the flat. The woman's next of kin have been informed.

Police also found a 53-year-old man inside the property who was also injured.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder before being treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital.

The suspect was discharged following treatment and remains in custody at a south London police station.

The man and the woman are believed to be known to each other.

A Met Police spokesperson said homicide detectives from the force's Specialist Crime Command have been informed.

The investigation continues.
