A girl with the world’s longest hair for a teenager has had it chopped off after 12 years.
Nilanshi Patel, from Modasa, Gujarat, India, held the record since 2018 after growing her locks to a staggering 5ft 7in aged just 16.
She increased this to 6ft 6.7in in time for her 18th birthday last July which cemented her as the longest hair ever on a teenager.
Ms Patel chose not to have her haircut when she was six after she had a bad experience at a hairdressers.
She has stuck with the move for 12 years and has previously referred to her hair as her ‘lucky charm’.
But the ‘real-life Rapunzel’ has now decided to lop it off and donated it to a Hollywood museum.

She said: ‘My hair gave me a lot – because of my hair I am known as the ”real life Rapunzel”… now it’s time to give it something back.’
When Ms Patel first cut her mane, she was unsure whether to auction it, donate it to charity or give it to a museum.
Her mother Kaminiben suggested it would be a good idea to donate it to a museum and she would give hers to charity instead.
Just before she had it cut, Ms Patel said: ‘I’m so excited and a little bit nervous because I don’t know how I’m looking in the new hairstyle. So let’s see what happens, but I hope it’s going to be amazing.’

When Ms Patel first cut her mane, she was unsure whether to auction it, donate it to charity or give it to a museum
She kissed it goodbye and crossed her fingers before the hairdresser made the first snips.
Her family blindfolded her before the big reveal and led her to a mirror before removing it.
She now sports a shorter bob style and has no fear of tripping over her longer locks when walking.
Ms Patel said she is happy with the new look, adding: ‘Oh my god it’s beautiful! It’s amazing – I’m like a little princess!’

But her mother Kaminiben said she missed her daughter’s record-breaking hair despite having to help her wash, dry and comb it once a week.
After the teenager’s hair was removed, it was weighed and came in at a whooping 266g.
It is being shipped from the family’s home in India to Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Hollywood where it will go on display.
It will later be featured at the Guinness World Records Museum down the road.
