Who is Rachel Johnson? Celebrity Big Brother 2018 star, Boris’s younger sister, former editor of The Lady and Notting Hell trilogy author

WHILE not as famous as her older brother Boris – Britain's Foreign Secretary – Rachel Johnson is still a familiar face to many.

And her profile is only going to get bigger now she has entered Celebrity Big Brother 2018. Here's the lowdown on her…

The only daughter of Stanley – who memorably entered I'm A Celebrity 2017 – and Charlotte Johnson, Rachel has three siblings who, like her, have all excelled in their chosen careers.

Born in September 1965, Rachel was raised and educated in both the UK and Brussels as her father worked for the European Parliament.

While studying at Oxford, Johnson edited the famous student newspaper Isis – which has also been edited in the past by former chancellor and now Evening Standard editor George Osborne.

After leaving uni, Johnson pursued a career in journalism and has worked for the Financial Times and the BBC and has written columns for several other newspapers.

Rachel is no stranger to TV cameras either and regularly appears on discussion panels, including Question Time and Sky News' The Pledge.

She famously split with Brexit-backing Boris over the question of Britain's EU membership in 2016 – campaigning for Remain during the referendum.

Following the result, she joined the Lib Dems due to the Tories support for Brexit.

She is married to Ivo Dawnay – who works for the National Trust – and splits her time between London and Exmoor.

The couple has three children.

Dan Wooton's Bizarre column exclusively revealed how Rachel would be one of the housemates in Celebrity Big Brother 2018.

A TV source said: "Bosses want this year’s show to be quite different. There are lots of intelligent, cultured people going in, all with strong opinions.

"People have been chosen because they might clash — but hopefully there’ll be heated debate and discussion rather than just screaming and storming out. Rachel is a great signing and fits the bill."

As well as editing The Lady, a weekly magazine, Rachel has written several successful novels.

These include Notting Hell – a book about couples living in posh London area Notting Hill – and Shire Hell, a follow-up.

She has also written The Mummy Diaries and Winter Games.

In 2015 she released the third book of her Notting Hell series titled Fresh Hell.

Celebrity Big Brother is on twice a year, and returned to our screens on January 2 on Channel 5 hosted by Emma Willis.

Spin-off Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal has also returned.

The show marks 100 years since women won the right to vote in Britain, and launched with an ALL-FEMALE cast of celebrities to begin with.

CBB is on every night on Channel 5 and usually begins at 9pm. Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On the Side is on the same channel on weekdays, later the same night.
