Aliona, who won the show twice, was partnered with TV star Johnny Ball in 2012.

The dad of It Takes Two presenter Zoe Ball  suggested claimed that Aliona had ‘faked an injury’ when they were partnered.

The BBC released a blog post in 2012 stating: “Aliona Vilani suffered a hairline fracture to her ankle today whilst training with partner Johnny Ball, putting her prospects for dancing in the first Strictly live show on 5th October on hold.

“Initial prognosis suggests our plucky pro-dancer may be out of action for the next 2-4 weeks, but a further appointment tomorrow will confirm her condition.”

After she left Johnny was then paired with Iveta Lukosiute, and he said that her routine was deliberately too difficult for him so he would leave the competition.

Aliona, who was also partnered with McFly’s Harry Judd in 2011 and The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness in 2015, is now taking “legal advise” against the claims.

“I am aware that Johnny Ball has made allegations regarding my fractured ankle during 2012 SCD, which I strongly deny,” she tweeted her 215k followers.

“I have instructed solicitors and am taking legal advice in relation to his allegations. It’s therefore not appropriate to comment further at this time.”

Speaking to The Sun about the claims, Johnny said: “It was a fix and it broke my heart.

“Aliona fell on a flat floor in flat shoes and said she had broken her leg.

“The next day she flew to the South of France for a pre-arranged weekend with her boyfriend.”

He then said Iveta purposely put together a difficult routine adding: “When I was knocked out she said, ‘That’s funny, my contract ends on Tuesday’.”

Aliona left Strictly in 2015, after lifting the glitter ball with Jay, to start a family with husband Vincent Kavanagh. They welcomed baby girl Bella in July 2017.
