Meghan Markle proves she's a 'keeper' with this sweet, simple gesture on Royal Wedding day

The former actress, 36, won the accolade as she and Prince Harry left for their evening reception following their beautiful wedding at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Gentlemanly Harry opened the door of their fancy Jaguar E-Type for his new bride to climb in.

And Meghan quickly returned the favour by reaching over the driver's seat to open his.

The simple but significant gesture caught the eye of royal fans, who took to social media to praise the Duchess of Sussex for passing the infamous test made famous by the 1993 American crime drama film The Bronx Tale.

In it, the main character Sonny offers some advice to a teenager ahead of his first date, telling him to open the car door for his date and see how she reacts.

Sonny explains: "If she doesn't reach over and lift up that button or handle so that you can get in, that means she's a selfish broad, and all you're seeing is the tip of the iceberg.

"You dump her and you dump her fast."

Thankfully, Megs passed with flying colours.

One Twitter user wrote: "It's really important to note that Meghan reached across the car to open the door for Harry. That's all."

Another posted: "Legit, when I saw it, I squealed and screamed 'SHE OPENED HIS DOOR!!'

"And my mom looked at me all weird and the only response I could think of was 'A BRONX TALE, WOMAN'."

The Royal couple attended their first engagement as husband and wife earlier this week, stealing the show at Prince Charles' 70th birthday bash.

Tactile Meghan put a protective hand on Prince Harry's back, demonstrating a “comfortable transition into her new role as a royal", according to body language expert Judi James.

Harry and Meghan are said to have delayed their honeymoon so they could attend, with plans to spend time in the UK before jetting off.

Countries including Botswana, where Prince Harry wooed Meghan, are thought to be top of the list for destinations.
