Meghan Markle takes inspiration from Kate Middleton paying tribute to Scotland on Edinburgh visit

All eyes were on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they visited Edinburgh on their first official visit to Scotland.

They arrived first at Edinburgh castle, Meghan beamed as she looked relaxed and at ease, greeting members of the public who were keen to meet the royal couple.

For the occasion Meghan opted to wear a navy and dark green tartan Burberry coat, a pattern traditionally associated with Scotland – a touching gesture Kate Middleton usually adopts too.

The coat costs £1,995, and she teamed the look with a Strathberry mini leather flap suede crossbody bag, which is already sold out.

In an unusual move, she opted to wear the shoulder bag across her body.

She also teamed the look up with black flared trousers, a garment not normally chosen by royals for official outings.

It’s Meghan and Harry’s first trip to Scotland, and one of many the pair will do in the run up to their wedding in May 2018.

The pair were welcomed to the city by the Royal Marines Scotland Band at Edinburgh Castle before they visit social enterprise cafe Social Bite.

The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton also usually wears colours to honour a particular country when visiting.

Most recently she did this in Norway, opting to wear a red and white ski jacket while visiting.
