Get ready Sk8er bois and girls, because Avril Lavigne is set to make her musical comeback.
The 32-year-old singer hasn’t dropped an album since her self-titled 2013 album as she’s been battling Lyme disease and having to confirm she is actually alive a whole bunch of times after a conspiracy theorist claimed she’d actually been dead since 2003.
However, in a recent Instagram post, Avril shared the exciting news that she is a) alive and b) “putting together” new music that “will be here before [we] know it”.
“To my fans, I just want to thank everyone for their patience as I work on putting together this new album,” she shared in the update.
“It’s been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys.
“You only deserve my best effort and that’s what I’m going to deliver. I can’t wait to share the new music I’ve been working on, I promise it will be here before you know it.”
And, the even better news is that we can probably expect to hear new music before the year is out.
Back in March, Avril announced she had signed a new record deal with BMG, before confirming that her sixth studio album will be released in 2017.
With only four months left and counting, she’s got her work cut out to pull this off in time… but we have faith she’ll see it through.
And she’s not our only noughties music crush poised to make a comeback this year, as Slim ‘Eminem’ Shady is also expected to drop an EP before 2017 is over following his headline sets at Reading and Leeds Festival last month.
Let the fight for the Christmas album chart begin!
