This will mark the first time that the trio headline the annual event. Em previously hit the stage as Dr. Dre’s guest in 2012, while the “Starboy” crooner joined the lineup twice before. Meanwhile, Bey joined her hubby Jay-Z in 2010 and accompanied her sister Solange Knowles in 2014.
Bey was originally slated to headline last year’s Coachella, but she had to pull out of performing due to her pregnancy. However, it was announced on Coachella’s Facebook page that the songstress would take the stage at this year’s festival.
“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,” so the message read. “However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding.”
As a result of that, Lady GaGa stepped in to take over the “Love on Top” songstress’ spot, performing “The Cure” for the first time. GaGa also performed some of her hit songs such as “Alejandro”, “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. Joining GaGa as the headliners at last year’s event were Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar.
