Beyoncé Reunites With Destiny’s Child At Coachella

Beyoncé made sure to end her Coachella performance with a bang by inviting Destiny’s Child to the stage.

Over the years, Queen Bey has gifted us with many, many things. From that iconic video for “Single Ladies” to break up anthems like “Irreplaceable,” we have so much to thank her for. Let’s face it, she’s a goddess—a true diva of our time. Now, after a sensational performance at the uber-hip music festival Coachella, the 36-year-old songstress has capped it all. We didn’t think it was possible, but she went and did it. Destiny’s Child reformed for one night only.

I am speechless. That performance made me burst into tears and sent shivers down my spine. Especially the Destiny’s child reunion. ICONIC is an understatement. Thank you for inspiring so many and for lifting each other up. #GirlPower @michellewilliams @beyonce @kellyrowland

The two-hour performance on the main stage in Indio, California was incredible with a capital I. Fans had been patiently waiting over a year for this moment and were hit with multiple surprises throughout the set. From over-the-top choreography featuring a marching band to an appearance from Jay-Z, it was all going to go down in history —especially considering Beyoncé is the first ever woman of color to headline the festival. However, fans were in for an unprecedented treat when the lights went down to reveal three silhouettes. The crowd went wild as Beyoncé, along with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, smashed out three of their biggest hits, “Lose My Breath,” “Say My Name,” and “Soldier.”

Even stars like Cara Delevingne, who was at the festival, took to her social media account to voice her happiness at the blast from the past. “I am speechless,” wrote the supermodel. “That performance made me burst into tears and sent shivers down my spine. Especially the Destiny’s Child reunion. ICONIC is an understatement. Thank you or inspiring so many and for lifting each other up.”

The trio had huge success in the 90’s and 2000’s, releasing multi-platinum selling albums. The band officially broke up in 2005 to concentrate on their individual projects, emphasizing that they ended the group “on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans and each other.” Rowland, Williams, and Beyoncé have continued to be friends throughout the years, collaborating on each other’s music projects and making appearances in each other’s music videos. The last time the girls performed together was in 2015 during the Stellar Awards, for a rendition of Michelle’s single “Say Yes.”
