Carrie Underwood has made her triumphant return to the music scene with her new single, ‘Cry Pretty.’
The singer dropped her brand new single earlier this week, which marks the first track she’s released (aside from her Super Bowl and Olympics promotional track, ‘The Champion,’ with Ludacris) to the world since she suffered a nasty fall outside her home back in November that left her with injuries to her face and a broken wrist.
The song tells the story of how we just can’t cry pretty (don’t we know it, girl), which Carrie recently told fans relates a lot to what she’s been going through over the past few months.
She said of the song in a recent blog post: “The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life.
“It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS!” she added of the song, which she also co-produced and co-wrote with songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna, also known as Love Junkies.
Carrie also confirmed that she’ll debut the song live for the very first time with a performance at the ACM Awards tomorrow (April 15). The American Idol winner’s appearance at the awards will mark her first big step back into the spotlight since her fall.

The singer told fans in late December in a New Year’s Eve blog post that she’d had a horror fall on some steps outside her house a month earlier that left her with almost 50 stitches in her face.
She said: “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well.
“I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [her husband] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
The singer also warned fans at the time that she may look a little bit different when she’s ready to step back into the spotlight.
“I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way,” she revealed. “And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”
