Ex-EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook arrested by Spanish national police in Malaga

Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has been arrested while travelling from the UK to Spain.

A spokesperson for the actress confirmed to The Mirror on Tuesday (April 24) that Danniella had been detained at the airport in Malaga in relation to alleged driving offences from last year.

“We can confirm our client Miss Westbrook was arrested by national police at Malaga airport last night and detained for 14 hours in custody before being bailed today by the court in Malaga this morning.

“We cannot at this time disclose any more information other than she has been left feeling very scared. She’s tired and looking forward to returning back to the UK next week.”

Earlier in the week, Danniella had made light of possible trouble with the law on her Instagram Story, when she joked: “I’m off to Spain! Hope I don’t get arrested.”

Back home in the UK, Danniella was arrested earlier in April in relation to “malicious communications and witness intimidation” accusations made against her by a former friend.

Westbrook famously played Samantha Mitchell on-and-off in EastEnders for more than 25 years, and has more recently become known for stints on reality shows like I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Big Brother.

She also made headlines earlier this year for a very public dispute with This Morning. In March, she alleged that the show’s producers tried “to make [her] look bad” by axing an interview and then blaming her health issues.
