In case you weren’t aware, Marcel Somerville from Love Island was in Blazin’ Squad – just thought we’d remind you in case you’d forgotten.
Except, is he? Fans have been worried that he’s quit the iconic band after he was absent from a performance earlier this week, and didn’t appear on their posters either.
Marcel himself has now set the record straight, revealing that he is “on a break” from the ‘Crossroads’ hit makers, but that he will never leave the group. Phew.
“No, you can never leave the Blazin’ Squad,” he told The Sun Online.
“I’m just taking a sabbatical as I’m so busy with other work at the moment, so the other boys are doing the shows. I will be on stage with the boys at some point once my time has been freed up a bit.”
Following his newfound fame from Love Island, Marcel admitted last year that the attention was on another level from his Blazin’ Squad days.
“I was famous when I was in the band, but it was nothing like this,” he said in August.
“It was crazy. It could go to your head, but we always had good people around us. You couldn’t really go to the shops or anything, so we’d be at our homes, writing songs.”
Love Island is gearing up for another summer of romance (and tantrums) this year, with thousands already applying.
Despite speculation, it looks like LGBTQ couples will not be included this time around, with a spokesperson confirming to Digital Spy that the format does not support the idea.
Love Island airs on ITV2.
