Arsene Wenger makes bumper offer to out-of-contract ex-player

Arsene Wenger has offered former Academy player Oguzhan Ozyakup a bumper contract to return to the Emirates.

The 25-year-old is in the last six months of his contract with Turkish giant Besiktas and is free to talk about a summer move.

Arsenal have long been linked with an interest in the midfielder, who spent four years at the Emirates as a youth player, but Aksam are now reporting that a firm offer has been made.

The report in Football.London states that Arsene Wenger has held personal conversations with Ozyakup about returning to north London and that he is considering ‘astronomical transfer offers’.

The 25-year-old is Besiktas captain but his form has dipped in recent weeks, with sources inside the club telling Aksam that Arsenal’s contract offer has turned his head.

The report also states that Ozyakup is ‘seriously considering’ linking up once again with Wenger in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s new £56million striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang CAN’T play in Europa League this season

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be able to play for Arsenal in the Europa League this season, much to the club’s disappointment.

The Gunners had hoped their £56million January signing would be eligible to play for them in the competition, as he previously only featured in the Champions League with Dortmund.

Under normal circumstances he would be able to play in the competition, as he isn’t cup-tied in the traditional sense, having not kicked a ball in the Europa League.

But because Dortmund dropped into the competition, after getting knocked out the Champions League group stages, Aubameyang is ineligible to play for Arsenal in case they come up against his former side.

Arsene Wenger has seen his Europa League plans take a blow after losing Alexandre Lacazette for up to six weeks.

Lacazette underwent knee surgery on Tuesday morning to solve what was an ongoing issue and even though the operation was described as a success it comes as a serious setback for Arsenal.

Even though Lacazette had lost his place to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the France striker would have started in the Europa League with the new signing cup-tied.

Wenger said: "He will be out for five weeks. It’s a massive blow for us."
